# Remove a person's grant on one organisation

> Idempotent: removing a grant they do not hold answers the same as removing one they did. Everything else is left alone, including account-wide access — somebody holding it still reaches this organisation afterwards, and the response shows that.

400 `user_access_would_be_empty` when it would leave them reaching nothing at all — grant them another organisation first, or have the account owner remove them with `DELETE /users/{principalId}`. A guest is the exception: taking back the last organisation you granted is exactly how guest access ends, and their own account elsewhere is untouched. 409 `cannot_remove_own_last_access` when the grant is your own last access — ask another administrator.
